River Monster

River Monster

Made from found and re-purposed scrap metal, this crudely rendered sculpture sits atop a marble base and adopts the form of an unnamed prehistoric fish. Big fins, knobby scales made from melted nails and an eye of polished stone make this ugly bottom feeder a relic of curious matter. Welded by artist Vladimir Nazarov, River Monster’s unwieldy curvature and gaping mouth of jagged teeth explore the ancient underbelly of the earth’s rivers and streams.
